The Informer: Revisited
Great articles from The Informer are always a pleasure to read and re-read!
In this frequently changing section, we will feature articles from past Informers as we start to prepare your Spring 2026 edition.
Here’s a good article about Ice Safety on pp. 8-9 of the Spring 2023 Informer, as we head into winter and the lake is freezing over:
Send us your wonderful fall photos (in high resolution, jpg format) to webblpoa@gmail.com, so we can post as many as possible.

Reminder: 10 km/h Shoreline Speed Limit
When boating in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia, please observe the unposted speed limit of 10 km/h (6 mph ) within 30 meters (100 ft ) from shore. This limit applies on all waters within these provinces except where other limits are posted. These provisions do not apply in rivers less than 100 meters (300 ft ) in width, canals and buoyed channels nor in the case of waterskiing, where the tow boat launches and drops off skiers by heading directly away from or into the shore.
Safe Boating: Maps and Guide
When put boating on our beautiful Boshkung Lake, it’s very important to be aware of the depths, proximity to the shoreline and any hazards when boating on the lake.
Here are two maps from our website and an interactive nautical chart that may be useful.
From Cottage Life
“Across almost all of Canada, common loons—the loon species that breeds the farthest south into cottage country—are struggling to reproduce. Adult populations are stable at about 240,000 breeding pairs, but if they cannot raise enough young to replace themselves, the future of the species is at stake.”
